ABOUT US

WELCOME TO HOMEWORK!
History

HISTORY.

We're a groundbreaking initiative born out of the collaboration between local firefighter Jason Shanley and the San Diego Building And Construction Trades Council. Recognizing the need for a paradigm shift in traditional job placement strategies for individuals returning from prison, Jason embarked on a mission to create a program that focuses on support during employment rather than pre-employment readiness.

In contrast to the conventional approach of mandatory job readiness training before employment, hoMEwork understands that most individuals returning from prison need support while working, not just before obtaining a job. Jason's vision is to create a seamless transition from release to employment or education, building on the achievements and potential already present in those returning from incarceration.

OUR MISSION.

To reduce recidivism, increase public safety, and change the narrative of what it means to be formerly incarcerated.
